HUMAN TRAFFICKING (MODERN DAY SLAVERY) THE WAY FORWARD. PART 2

From our last discussion on this issue, we concluded that those in authority should try to provide the basics needs for their citizens which are :

- FOOD
- CLOTHING
- SHELTER and
- SECURITY was added by my humble self.

When talking about the solutions to human trafficking, most of
us are quick to shift all the blame to those in authority. How ever, today we will be looking at the issue from another dimension. 

This is where every one of us, young and old, male and Female is affected.
We have to change OUR MIND SET about certain issues and have the RIGHT MIND SET. They are many but I will be talking on just one and that is SKILL ACQUISITION.

Many of us distaste learning skills because we have the mind that those that learn skills are, illiterate, not sharp and Second Class Citizens among other wrong notions. It becomes worst when you see parents and guardians asking their children :
IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT TO BECOME?
YOU CAN NEVER BECOME A MECHANIC OVER MY DEAD BODY or the likes even if the child has shown beyond doubt that that is his talent. We are not discouraging basic Education in any way because it helps to be more confident and proficient in what ever trade or skills we are into.

What we are suggesting is that we, including parents should encourage skill acquisition along side basic Education as a way of curbing the high unemployment rate which often lead to emigration and human trafficking.

Recent studies have shown that in few years time, those with skills will be more likely to be employed and live better than those with only certificate. They say desperate times, requires desperate measures and surviver of the fittest, only the strong survive. By the above, we mean it is high time we changed our mind set from focusing only on acquiring certificate, but we should include skill acquisition as part of our survival strategies no matter our Educational level.

It's interesting to note that such skills can be put to good use anywhere in the world we find ourselves. Instead of begging to be employed, we can be employers of labor.

When we have skills, we are more likely to look for ways to use such skills to solve some problems around us thus serving as a good source of income for us instead of giving up on our selves and the society thereby looking for greener pastures else where.

Parents and guidance should be quick to discover the TALENT AND ABILITIES of their children so as to help them develop such skills profitably to benefit them selves and others. There is no one SKILL OR PROFESSION that is a Guaranty for Wealth, it all depends on us and our circumstances. We have poor Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, just as we have poor Mechanic, fashion Designers, shoe makers and Vice versa. So it does not depend on what we are doing, but on our attitude toward what we are doing.

In conclusion, let us have the right MIND SET and encourage skill acquisition as a survival strategy in this CRITICAL TIMES. DESPERATE TIMES, REQUIRE DESPERATE MEASURES.
